Yoga with Amy
I aim to share my love of yoga with a wide variety of people, and ALWAYS extend to those who want to try yoga for the first time. I encourage students to approach yoga as a way of life, to enjoy a practice and find the freedom that comes from the practice.
As a yoga teacher I aim to foster a deeper understanding of student’s physical and mental bodies in order to be more adaptable and accepting humans, and this work begins at the individual level. I work to facilitate a personal and creative process where students are enabled to shift mental and emotional patterning to achieve balance and clarity in their lives, on and off the mat.
Teaching Style
My style of teaching is rooted in the Hatha Yoga Tradition with additional emphasis on alignment, sequencing and breath. I teach a variety of yoga classes including Vinyasa, Yoga Nidra, Restorative and Meditation. I also love to teach kirtan/chanting and think it’s going to be an extremely important practice to bring balance and help us reconnect with the universe in this current time.
I invite all people to my classes and at all levels, from very beginner to those with a long-standing consistent yoga practice. Check out my credentials for more on my training.
My yoga instruction is rich with a unique approach collected from a vast array of teachings including asana from master-class teachers, pranayama, modern anatomy, philosophy and anthropology.
My teaching approach is imbued with warmth and light-heartedness to nurture a safe and supportive environment for all practitioners. I begin every class with breathwork, and we expand throughout the rest of the body from there. Students are inspired to broaden their knowledge of yoga and play with a variety of asana in a community setting. They are also encouraged to self-reflect, learn and explore through yoga.
Most importantly, you DO NOT have to be flexible…you just have to be breathing, that’s all!
One-to-one Instruction
This takes place in the comfort of your home. You can choose to have a 1-hour session or a full 90 minute session, which will generally take place once a week. A full session can be shared by up to 4 people.
I also provide group tuition in private homes, businesses, schools, etc. Please contact me to discuss details and rates for one-to-one instruction.
